Halloween Streaming – The Evil Within, part 1

Welcome to the second game in my Halloween Gameplay Stream event! This is part 1 of my playthrough of Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within.

Mikami is the father of modern survival horror – he created the original Resident Evil – so I’ve been very excited to try this game out. He’s been promising that it is a return to his roots, and in a way, he wasn’t kidding. It plays like Resident Evil 4 with the cryptic nonsense of the original Resident Evil. So far, I’m finding the mix to be extremely frustrating. There are some fun parts, to be sure, but mostly, the game kind of feels disjointed. This is only the first hour and a half, though, so we’ll see how I feel as the game progresses.
